Dr. Turki Faisal Al Rasheed and the Saudi Oxford Advance Management Leadership Programme (SOAMLP) group recently visited Ma’aden (Saudi Arabian Mining Company) under the invitation of Mr Abdulaziz Al Harbi, President of Ma’aden Aluminium Company.
Ma’aden was established as a Saudi Arabian joint stock company in March 1997 to facilitate the development of Saudi Arabia’s non-petroleum mineral resources and to diversify the Kingdom’s economy away from the petroleum and petrochemical sectors. Ma’aden is engaged in the development, advancement and improvement of all aspects of the mineral industry, mineral products and by-products and related industries in Saudi Arabia.
The SOAMLP is a joint initiative between Sai’d Business School, the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA), Rakisa Education and the North Development Program (NDP). It is aimed at developing public and private sector leaders to enhance Saudi Arabia’s competitiveness for the overall benefit of the Saudi society.
The SOAMLP group visited Ma’aden’s aluminium plant and experienced the aluminium processing procedure. The visit included a tour of several processing plants, for phosphate, ammonia and many other materials. In the course of the visit, the Saudi managers of each processing plant briefed the SOAMLP group on their roles and the manufacturing process. Ma’aden management staff demonstrated deep knowledge of their work and the desire to work harder in order to achieve their targets and goal.
Also included in the visit was a tour of the Royal Commission of Jubail and Yanbu headquarters, Jubail and a Jubail Industrial City tour. The tour was led by the Ma’aden Aluminium Company President.
The SOAMLP group are 45 individuals ranging from members of government and private institutions, to businessmen, academics and professionals. The group was created after the University of Oxford’s UK leadership program took place in 2010. Over the past few years, the group has visited Abha province, Dammam, the Royal Commission of Yanbu, Gizan, Hail, Tabuk and most recently Jubail.
The goals of such visits are continuous learning and to provide feedback and comments for the benefit and advancement of the civic society, and it is part of the group’s corporate social responsibility.
All the members of the SOAMLP group extend their appreciation and thanks to Engr. Abdulaziz Al Harbi, President of Ma’aden Aluminium, who is himself a SOAMLP member, for his hospitality and for the memorable visit to Ras Al Khair and Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
