UN-ESCWA Water and Sanitation Seminar

Dr Turki Faisal Al Rasheed has been invited by the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) to address the Technology Centre Board of Governors Meeting & Water and Sanitation Seminar on 11 March 2014 at El Hassan Science City, Amman, Jordan.
The objectives of ESCWA include promoting the exchange of experience, best practice and lessons learned between the member countries, thus facilitating regional integration and supporting economic and social development in the area. To this end, Dr Al Rasheed will be giving a presentation entitled “Sustainable Water and its Optimal Use in Agriculture” . This presentation will be about water resources management for sustainable water and its optimal use in agriculture to achieve sustainable agricultural development. Additionally, Dr Rasheed will be speaking about his book “Agricultural Development Strategies: the Saudi Experience” and the role of agriculture in enhancing security, alleviating poverty and promoting economic growth.
Other speakers at the seminar will include HRH Prince Hassan Bin Talal , Chairman of UN-SGAB , who will deliver the keynote speech on the Role of the UN Secretary General’s Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation (UNGSAB) in improving water and sanitation services; Ms Rima Khalaf, Executive Secretary (UN-ESCWA) is giving the opening statements; and Mr Mohammed Al-Hamdi , who will speak about Water and Sanitation within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The seminar will be attended by members of the board of governors of UN-ESCWA including professionals, academics and business people from the member countries.
